Marist Solidarity Cambodia (MSC)
Marist Solidarity Cambodia is an International NGO which was formed by the amalgamation of Marist Mission Australia (MMA) and Youth with Disability Foundation for Education and Employment (YODIFEE), and which intends to enter into a MoU with the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Royal Government of Cambodia.
Background and History
MSC was formed in 2010 through the amalgamation of MMA and YODIFEE.
Marist Brothers have worked in Cambodia since 1995. This initial work led to the establishment of MMA and this entity's formal recognition in August 2003 as an INGO within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Royal Government of Cambodia.
In 1999, with the collaboration of Marist Brothers International, MMA was reponsible for the establishment and running of LaValla School. More recently, this Ministry expanded to include LaValla Farm.
In November 2005, at the instigation of Marist Mission Centre (MMC) and with financial assistance from AusAID, YODIFEE was established as a registered local NGO within the Ministry of Interior Royal Government of Cambodia. YODIFEE offers residential and vocational training programs for disabled young people.
In 2007 Marist Brothers International became more closely linked to MMA through the provision of important financial resources and personnel - facilitation an expansion of the solidarity work already initiated at La Valla School.
In 2008 A New Marist Centre for Solidarity was established in Pailin and in 2011 six Marist Brothers commenced working at establishing new Centres in Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham, always in collaboration with MMA.
Our Vision
Our vision is the hope for an inclusive community where concern for individual human development makes education a hight priority;
In fulifillment of this vision, we see as our Mission a need to be in solidarity with the young, especially the most disadvantaged, providing them with the means of achieving their full potential through the delivery of education and life-building support and the Values we hold in our approach to employment and work encompass the promotion of equality dignity and social justice for every member of God's family.
Mission
MSC is an integral part of the Marist Brothers. As part of this mission, MSC in cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia, seeks to engage in humanitarian activities for social and educational development and public benefit, especially but not exclusively for young people with disabilities. In putting these activities into practice, MSC seeks to promote Marist values of equality, dignity and social justice for all.
Ethos and Logo
The ethos of MSC is reflected in its logo-three violets. The Founder of the Marist Brothers, Saint Marcellin Campagnat, used these violets to teach the importance of behaviour characterised by courtesy, friendliness, joy, patience and other values-sometimes called "little virtues". We aspire towards these "little virtues" in our care for the young people we serve.
Aid and Development Objectives
In fulfilling its Mission, MSC aims to:
- Empower those it serves to take their own path to development.
- Build creative and trusting relationships with local community groups and involve them in its projects and activities.
- Build sustainability into our projects and programs by enhancing local capacity.
- Respect and foster internationally recognised standards of human rights.
- Provide service regardless of race, creed, colour, gender or disability.
- Frame its programs and projects around the history and culture of the people it serves.
- Ensure accountable financial management and proper stewardship of the earth's resources.

Current Need Appeal
Currently we are need of Wheelchairs for our children at LaValla school, and
YODIFEE. If anyone would like to help us with these, or indeed any of our projects, pleses e-mail our director, Mr. Nimul Ouch. Obviously all donations and help are appreciated, however because of practical reason, such as security and postal problems many times we find it better to receive money rather than actual items.
Thank you.
